School of Nursing

This is a call to those who believe nurses should care for the underserved and be influential drivers of healthcare policy change.

The School of Nursing at Trent University champions education excellence by being at the forefront of healthcare innovation. The outcomes of this work not only inspire and educate the nurses of tomorrow but have an immediate, demonstrable impact on the healthcare challenges we face today.

Momentous Change in Nursing

The School of Nursing at Trent University is a leading change agent for healthcare and a driver of social justice. We achieve this by maintaining the highest standard for nursing education through compassion, humanistic and scientific caring, clinical excellence, professional and social responsibility, and critical inquiry.

We believe that nurses are the backbone of every healthcare system and that their knowledge, skills and compassion have the power to target health inequities and improve the health and vitality of our communities.

The Campaign for Momentous Change will ensure the people, places, and initiatives of the School of Nursing are limitless in their abilities to reach further, think more deeply, and bring truly momentous change to our world – when it is needed most.

Nursing Brigade

Nursing Brigade: An Unparalleled Global Nursing Experience

Trent Nursing students have a unique experiential learning opportunity to join a health promotion nursing brigade where they see firsthand their power to effect change.

The experience this program provides to students is invaluable, but the cost can be a barrier to some. Our goal is that every student who wants to experience a Brigade has the financial means to do so.

With your support, we will broaden the reach, deepen the empathy, and inspire the thoughtful and purposeful actions of our Nursing students.

The Momentous Impact of a Single Act of Kindness

The rippling effect of a single act of kindness is undeniable.

In 2012, the decisive action of three Trent students allowed Cindy Morgan ’75 to say her goodbyes to her father who was involved in a fatal car accident.

Now Cindy, who passed in 2019, has left Trent a gift of life insurance to create the Cindy Ellen Morgan Nursing Bursary in honour of the students who came to her parents’ aid.

Cindy’s bursary will provide financial support for School of Nursing students who have proven financial need, with the inaugural bursaries expected to be awarded in the 2022/23 academic year.
