Beth Pelow - CCAE Rising Star Award 2025 Recipient

Senior development officer Beth Pelow takes home 2025 award for promising new professionals in the Advancement field

Although still early in her career, Trent University senior development officer Beth Pelow has established a solid reputation of building meaningful partnerships, securing grants, and organizing impactful giving campaigns — all while centering on collaboration and authentic community.

Recognizing her remarkable achievements, the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE) has awarded Beth the prestigious 2025 Rising Star Award, which celebrates promising new professionals in the Advancement field.

“Beth is an inspiring example of the future of Advancement, and we are so proud of her for receiving this well-deserved accolade,” said Sherry Booth ’98, Associate Vice President of Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement at Trent. “Her infectious enthusiasm and wisdom beyond her years shine through in her daily work, showcasing her dedication and eagerness to learn. Beth's heartfelt commitment to building meaningful relationships has already made a lasting impact at Trent.”

BUILDING COMMUNITY AT TRENT

Beginning her journey at Trent in 2021, Beth served as co-director of Partnership & Resource Development with the TRACKS Youth Program. She later joined Trent’s External Relations & Development team as a development officer and, within her first year, she effectively built authentic relationships and helped expand sponsorships for events such as the Elders and Traditional Peoples Gathering.

Given her personal experience refereeing soccer at a provincial and national level, it was a natural fit for Beth to transition to the role of senior development officer supporting the Athletics department in 2024. In less than a year, with thanks to Trent Community support for the Momentous Campaign, she surpassed expectations, developed robust sponsorship models, and strengthened ties with alumni through innovative data collection and engagement strategies.

Beth’s achievements go far beyond metrics. She is also a champion for Indigenous student support, continues to pursue professional growth through micro-credentials and fundraising networks, and volunteers for community organizations such as Kids Help Phone.
